My Blog
Well...it's been a while since I blogged - so figured I should get to it.
Still going through trying to get my divorce finalized. At this point I still don't have a seperation agreement that I asked my ex for in February. He continues to drag his feet and give me excuse after excuse. I hope to file for the actual divorce on November 15th - hopefully it will get finalized by the end of the year.
The kids are doing fine. They stay with me about half the time and with their dad the other half. They come to my house every day after school. They seem to be adjusting fine to the divorce and also to Weaver being in their lives.
As far as school, this is a year of big changes for us. My oldest started high school - he will be 14 in November. His school implemented block scheduling this year - so we are waiting to see how he handles that. I personally don't think it's a good idea - he has 4 classes for the 1st semester, then 4 different classes for the 2nd semester. I guess we'll see what happens. My middle daughter started kindergarten. She is loving school. She is making new friends and likes riding the school bus. My little one is in pre-school 3 mornings a week. We are getting ready to have her birthday party this weekend as she turns 4.
Weaver and I are settling into life together as a couple. We have set up our household and so far it's been smooth sailing. We spend the days working together. Our evenings vary depending on if we have the kids or not. Usually just a quiet night at home watching movies and playing games. Our favorites are Scrabble and Backgammon.
Life is strange.....
While I am in one of the happiest times of my life - life also sucks. Royally!
I am happier than I have been for a very, very long time. I have begun anew a relationship with the love of my life. Weaver and I dated in high school, more than 18 years ago. We have maintained a friendship since we were 14 years old, even through a very difficult breakup when we were 16. I am very fortunate to be deeply, madly in love with my best friend. I have the privilege of working with Steve, Shane and Tony on a daily basis in the little adventure we call PHXX LLC.
At some point, once our lives settle down a bit - Weaver and I will get married. We hope this will occur sooner rather than later - we have waited for each other far too long already.
Which leads to the part of life that royally sucks....I am going through a divorce. At least that is my opinion. Somehow I get the feeling that my soon to be ex-husband doesn't quite get that. I have had to say to him directly several times "John, we are getting divorced" when he asks why he is not invited to do things with my children and me - for example, visiting MY parents' house. He seems to either think that if he ignores it that it won't happen, or that I will give up trying. I don't live in the same house and I have been trying to get him to move on for MONTHS!! I get excuse after excuse as to why a settlement agreement has not been returned by his lawyer, among other things. I'm not sure how I can make him understand that this is happening no matter how much he tries to delay.
Overall - life is good. I am happy. I have 3 great kids and a wonderful man in my life. Just looking forward to wading through all the crap so we can get on with living our lives together.
I got the chance to see a really great movie last week. Went to Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The movie is based on a Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical and was directed by Tim Burton. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were fantastic as the leads, Sweeny Todd and Mrs. Lovett. Alan Rickman plays Judge Turpin - perfect for the part - he does evil so well.
The music was great. The story is fairly gory, but there was quite a bit of humor as well. Guys, after seeing this movie, a visit to the barber will never be the same.
Well, I am just back from our Fall Camporee with my son's Boy Scout Troop. This was a district event with many other scout troops from our area. The boys worked on and completed the requirements to earn their Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge.
The weather during the day was beautiful (75-80 degrees), but it was quite chilly at night (in the 40s). We ended up in our tents fairly early both nights due to the cold. The entire state of Virginia has been declared a natural disaster area and Friday morning our governor issued a statewide burn ban. That meant no campfires at night - so no way to warm up other than our sleeping bags. :)
All in all, we had a great weekend. The kids had fun and learned a bit too. The other adult leaders and I got a chance to relax for a while and spend some time with our scouts. I can't wait for the next chance I get to go camping (December 15-16)!!!
I went to a great movie last night - Across The Universe. The entire film was based on songs by the Beatles. It is set in the 1960's among the Vietnam War, protests, psychedelic drug delusions and other various turmoils that young lovers go through. The main characters are Jude (from the song - Hey Jude) and Lucy (from the song - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds). The music was fantastic!! We left the theater and went to the store to buy the CD. I can't wait for the DVD!! Go see it if you get the chance.
